1. Who We Are

FurFamily ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile app that helps pet owners track their pets' weight, vaccines, medications, vet visits, and reminders. FurFamily is operated as an independent software publisher.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data

When you sign up we collect your email address and an optional display name. You can also sign in with Apple or Google, in which case we receive your name and email from those providers. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google) — Firebase manages your credentials and login sessions, and we never see or store your password.

Pet and care data you enter

This data is stored locally on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our server so it stays available across your devices.

Photos

Pet photos and event photos you attach are stored on your device. They are not currently uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app or sign out, the photos are removed from the device.

Subscription state

A flag indicating whether you have an active "Pro" subscription, and its expiry date. We receive this from RevenueCat (our subscription provider — see "Service Providers" below) via webhook when your subscription changes state. We do not see your payment method, full receipt, or store-account details.

Diagnostics and crash data

We use Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring to monitor app stability, basic feature engagement (which screens are used, which features are tapped, crash rates), and app performance (screen render times, network request durations). When the app encounters a non-fatal error it may also POST a short log entry (level, timestamp, message, error stack) to our own server, where it is auto-pruned after 14 days. None of this data is used for advertising, profiling, or tracking across other apps.

Push notification tokens

If you allow notifications, we store your device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver reminders for vaccines, medications, and care tasks you've scheduled.

5. Service Providers

We use a small number of vetted service providers. Each receives only the minimum data needed to do its job.

Firebase (Google)

Firebase provides authentication, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and push notifications. Firebase processes your account email, device identifiers, usage events, crash logs, and performance traces under Google's Data Processing Terms. Firebase Analytics is configured as a first-party product analytics tool only — IDFA collection is disabled, no data is shared with advertising networks, and the Android com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission is blocked.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat manages subscription billing across App Store and Google Play. RevenueCat receives only your Firebase user ID (a random UUID, not your email or name) and subscription status. RevenueCat handles this data under their Data Processing Addendum.

Apple App Store / Google Play

Payment for Pro subscriptions is processed by Apple or Google. We never see card numbers or banking information.

Our own server

Pet records and account data are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on a secure VPS. No third party has access. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.

We do not sell your data

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. No Cross-App Tracking, No Advertising IDs

FurFamily does not perform any cross-app or cross-website tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Specifically:

Your data is stored on our server (PostgreSQL on a private VPS) and locally on your device. All transit uses HTTPS.

8. Data Export

You can export all your data at any time from More → Data → Export backup in the app. The export is a JSON file containing every pet, vaccine, medication, reminder, and growth entry on your account.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

FurFamily is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has registered, contact us at support@furfamilyapp.com and we will delete the account.

11. Data Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Authentication is handled by Firebase with industry-standard security. We use rate limiting, input validation, and server-side authorization to protect your data.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by displaying a notice in the app. The latest version is always available at furfamilyapp.com/privacy.
